Writing Exercises for Chinese Characters
Mastering the characters is among the most difficult tasks of learning Chinese: you need to practice, practice, practice. Therefore we would like to offer sets of writing exercises for the Chinese characters that appear in different textbooks and language tests.
Unfortunately, neither are all sets complete, nor is all information correct - however, we hope that they can still help you with your studies. The writing exercises are prepared directly from the information in our dictionary and updated on a regular basis, so you will always find up-to-date data on this page.
We would, of course, appreciate if you could help us eliminate errors and add missing information, so that together - with less individual effort for everyone - we can prepare better study aids.
For some Chinese characters in this set of exercises, the correct way of writing is illustrated using images from the great
CJK Stroke Order Project. Unfortunately, a lot of characters still lack such information. Do you know how to create computer graphics? Then you can help create the missing illustrations - other learners will be very grateful for your contributions. We will be adding new illustrations on a regular basis, as they become available.
You can also build your own, personal sets of writing exercises and flash cards after a one-time, free
registration, which is necessary to maintain your own list of vocabulary.
